Meet the managers! The culture at SVM has led to stability in the investment team, all lead managers have been at the firm for at least ten years. This page allows you to put a face to the name on the article and let you know a bit more about them on a professional and personal level.
Neil Veitch has 20 years’ experience of investment management and has managed the SVM UK Opportunities for over 10 years. He is a director of SVM and prior to joining the business in 2006, Neil was responsible for UK mid & small cap investments at Dutch merchant bank, Kempen Capital Management. Neil holds a BA (Hons) in Economics, an MSc in Investment Management, and is a CFA charterholder. He is also lead manager of the SVM World Equity Fund and co-manager of SVM’s Pan European product, the SVM All Europe SRI Fund.

The three books that have influenced him most thus far are Capital Account: A Fund Manager’s account of a Turbulent Decade, The Most Important Thing: Uncommon Sense for the Thoughtful Investor and Reminiscences of a Stock Operator.
When asked about what advise he would give aspiring managers – he says ” to stay humble – recognize that you will often be wrong and always be concerned about the thesis of each portfolio holding”.
At University he was a keen footballer and still runs the 5 miles home from the office most evenings.
